The exhibition charts
the notable careers of Professor Michael J. O'Kelly and his wife, Claire
O'Kelly and their combined work on the great Neolithic monument at
Newgrange. It deals with the Excavation and Restoration of the monument
from 1962 until 1975 and goes into great detail about the re-discovery of the
Roof Box in 1963 and Professor O'Kelly's remarkable discovery of its purpose in
1967. Of all of the many aspects of this world famous monument, the Winter
Solstice alignment is its best-known feature.
